The Dabba Mane was successfully completed for about $18,000. The four containers are distinctly divided so that two are for the main shipping container home and the other two serve as bachelor pad and office.
To maximize the benefits of using shipping containers for housing materials whilst saving costs, 2 of the shipping containers were arranged in an L shape, thus encouraging ventilation. Each of the containers served a purpose.
One served as duplex bedroom with a fully equipped bathroom while the other served as kitchen. And to further keep the residents of the home safe, shipping grids covered with decking sheets were used in to link the open space between the containers on the ground floor and concrete poured over them, serving as foundation for tiles.
One of the reasons people are beginning to consider using shipping containers for housing is the creativity involved. In this shipping container home, one of the walls was made with beer bottles. Other notable things about this shipping house include the use of half a diesel funnel as kitchen sink and a uniquely designed railing.
