Description: Now this is what you call an amazing idea! Imagine if you were an employee in a company and you had your very own shipping container acting as your office pod. Consisting of your own porthole window, office furniture and even a bathroom including a sink! Keith Flanigan of a direct mail company called MPV, decided to put all of the containers he was continually seeing at the Port of Long Beach to good use. He didn’t realize at the time how vastly cheaper that choice was going to make his new office set-up!
Number of Shipping Containers Used: One container per office.

Benefits: I don’t think anyone is going to argue about the fact that having shipping containers separating individual offices / desks instead of the standard partitioning in offices isn’t a MUCH better alternative. The fact that that they are individually climate controlled, similar to that of a individual air conditioning system, avoids all of the typical problems caused by using one big HVAC system. The fact that the heating / air conditioning can be turned off whenever the individual is not in the space, means that the company has seen a DRASTIC decrease in their electricity bills. It also allows each office (container) to be decorated by the individuals occupying them.
Investment: $1,000 each, however with a full set-up including electricity etc, they amount to approximately $4,000 each.
Time to build: No information provided.
